Design

KO drums can be designed to be horizontal or vertical, depending on the operating parameters and plant conditions. Horizontal drums are often more economical for high vapor flow and large liquid storage capacity. Vertical drums are better for low liquid loads or limited space, and are often used at the base of a flare stack.

KO drums are also called mist eliminators, scrubber separators, vane pack separators, demister pad separators, and inertial separators.
