Test separator skid is a specialized equipment used to separate a mixture of three different phases, commonly oil, water, and gas mainly in Well Testing Industry. This type of separator is crucial in industries like Well Testing, , Early Production facility, Exploration and Upstream oil and gas production plants. Each components need to meet specific performance requirements such as 0.5% BS&W content in Oil, 2000PPM of Oil in Water and 0.1 US Gallon oil per MMSCFD of Gas.
Test Separator is used to monitor well geometry and lifetime of well and availability of crude.

Three phase separator design is basically based upon fluid flow rate , temperature , pressure and fluid properties.
Test separators are designed considering 1 min retention time. Where as in early production or production facility the retention time will be based upon crude oil properties which is varying from 3 mins to 30 minutes.
